Omega Pet Foods

Why Omega Pet Foods?

There are four distinct factors that have an impact on dog food quality. These include the quality of the raw ingredients, the formula of the food, manufacturing technology and the laboratory controls and tests performed during the manufacturing process. Omega Pet Food brings together the best of these four factors in its range of premium products.

Omega Pet Food also promotes your dog’s optimal health and well-being in the following ways:

Omega contains Omega Oil+®, a special blend of animal, fish and plant oils, in the optimum omega-6: omega-3 proportion. Supplementary salmon and flaxseed oils supply EPA and DHA, the important Omega-3 fatty acids.

Omega products are low allergenic, Ostrich, chicken and lamb are used as the main sources of protein and no beef (or beef fat), artificial colourants or flavourants are included. Beef and beef by-products have proved to be the protein most commonly associated with dietary related allergies in dogs.

Superior raw ingredients

Only meat (ostrich, chicken and lamb) that is derived from healthy animals and processed at export registered abattoirs is used in the production of Omega. The meat is growth hormone and antibiotic stimulant free.

Formulated by experts

Omega was formulated by veterinarians and companion animal nutritionists at the Feed Technology Group of the University of Stellenbosch, incorporating the latest scientific-based knowledge on canine nutrition. The food is manufactured according to a fixed formulation, making it possible to list (in order of dry mass inclusion) detailed raw ingredients on the packaging.

Continuous laboratory testing

Continuous laboratory testing is done on raw ingredients, as well as on the final product, by internal as well as external laboratories. This ensures that the products meet all the guaranteed nutritional values and are contaminant free. Membership of the PFI (Pet Food Industry Association of Southern Africa) also brings additional peace of mind for consumers, as random, independent quality and ingredient checks are done on food bought by the PFI in the retail environment.

World Class Manufacturing

The production facility is veterinary approved for dry pet food exports and is HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) and FSSC 22000 certified. To comply with these certifications, regular independent audits are performed at the manufacturing facility . The facility is owned by a consortium of private investors and BEE Companies.
